the latest updtae from Mitch Kaufmann on the origins of rattown

i was born in the s. bronx, ny in 1968. in 1973 my family moved to atlantic beach, florida.
my mom rented a small apartment directly on the beach. i fell in love with the beach / ocean instantly. i was free. i started catching waves on a canvas raft at age 7. received my first skateboard this year as well. standing up, bent knees and doing spinners in the whitewater. at age 8 i had access to a surfboard. at age 10 i was obsessed.
eventually getting my own board i was surfing at the atlantic beach pier. rattown headquarters. i was watching the older crew. ripping, shooting the pier and
talking / hanging on the beach.
rattown rulz was written on walls, in wet cement on roads with sex wax, and many more surfaces.
these surfers / skateboarders played a major role in my upbringing. sharing waves. giving me rides to other waves. feeding me. looking out for me, and putting me in check when i got to big for my biirdwells.
i'll do my best to represent my rattown brethren with the respect and fun it deserves. it will remain a work in progress with updates.
adding profiles, photos, videos, art, and merch.
stay tuned and keep checking in...
